Hope Church Auckland Park is a wonderful community of people from every age and stage of life. There are many students from the varsities and colleges all around us as well as lots of families, workers and those who have retired. As a family we are a real mix of backgrounds and cultures that reflect our city.
We meet on Sunday to be equipped by God’s word as it is preached to us (Eph 4v11-12), to speak the truth in love to each other (Eph 4v15) and to sing in our hearts to the Lord and one another (Eph 5v19-20). Our services reflect this passion as we work through books of the Bible together in our preaching, spend lots of time sharing together after the service (both the truth and food) and singing together in many of our different languages.
We also want our children to be growing up doing exactly the same thing, hearing from God’s word, sharing the truth together and singing together and so at our 9am & 11am services there are age-appropriate groups for children between the ages of 0-18 as well as groups during the week.
We meet together in smaller groups for Bible study throughout the week as we seek to grow together more and more in love with Jesus as we speak to each other about Him from His word. The families meet in homes across Johannesburg (from Cresta to Soweto), younger workers meet all together centrally at church and students meet on campus and in different residences across UJ and Wits campuses – please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to join a group.
If you like big labels, Hope Church is an Evangelical, Anglican, Reformed church and part of the REACH-SA denomination. Everyone is welcome and you can come exactly as you are. There is lots more that could be said, but you’ll have to find out for yourself.
